What are the Willy California 404 4-Pocket Pants?

The comfort and fit of traditional jeans designed for the modern world. Jeans are called jeans because they are rugged and tough, but the fashion piece of jeans is still evolving. This is why many dress codes still prohibit jeans. Our 4-Pocket Pants marry our obsession with comfort and style with the traditional rugged feel of your favorite pair of jeans. We also managed to comply with most dress codes in the process. The 4-Pocket Pants are like your favorite pair of jeans except you can get away with never taking them off. The alpha jean has arrived.    

With the 404, we take everything we learned engineering the best performance athleisure on the planet and apply that towards a professional golf jean that could not be more comfortable. Our 4-way stretch blend gets augmented with the addition of natural Bamboo fibre to give you a more robust and durable fabric while not sacrificing the comfort you've come to expect from Willy California. Comfort with enough structure and integrity to hold everything together. The result is the most grown up pair of pants we've ever designed.  

What Makes the 404 4-Pocket Pants So Amazing?  

Structure normally means uncomfortable, but not at Willy. We like the 4-Pocket Pants because we really wanted to give a more robust feel to our pants. Our 403 Nicer Pants are more of a slack than a jean which is why we call them the Nicer Pants. The Nicer Pants are so sleek and nice that you will spend some time worrying about catching the fabric on the edge of a table. Not the 404, these pants would rip the corner off a desk.  

As usual with Willy products, our trims are also understated and right on brand. No metal rivets which are a €œno no € for most dress codes. Instead of rivets the 404 has reinforced seams to ensure durability and comfort. A simple and iconic W above the left back pocket is the only branding. The steel button shank also has a subtle logo and the entire shank is covered in rubberized coating to match the style of the pants. Like everything in the Willy line, this blend is practically wrinkle-proof and designed to be tucked in a backpack for after the gym - a fully portable pair of pants. You'll really have to have a PhD in wrinkles to get even the mildest crease into these guys.

The 4-Pocket Pants was definitely the toughest blend to pull off because the moment you add any kind of real structure to these cuts, your pants can easily start to pinch and pull in all the wrong places. Not the 404. With the 404 you have perfectly constructed inseams and waistbands that create comfortable, high-quality pants. Adding natural bamboo to our fabric equation created the perfect foundation without giving you that cardboard, rigor mortis or anything too wild.  

How to Use the Willy California 4-Pocket Pants?

Our 4-Pocket Pants strongly emphasize the business in business casual and are super comfortable as well. Some dress codes force you into that more rigid look that we all hate €¦ and everyone ends up looking the same. We developed this 404 blend so you could slide into a stiffer office environment while still feeling smooth and comfortable all day long.

The structured feel is enhanced with four-way stretch so that these jeans move when you move. You can even get away with planking and push ups in these bad boys, but maybe save them for days where you don't think you'll need to get a quick run in before lunch.  

We added the bamboo structure of the 404 in order to create that modern jean fit and feel. Don't worry, these are not stiff in any way. These jeans won't let you down even if you have an emergency-9 at the end of your normal, grueling 18 hole round. The material still breathes really well and helps you keep your cool even if you are on your feet for the entire day. You could even easily get away with taking them on a hike if you want. Don't be afraid to get a few squats or wall climbers in while wearing them throughout the day (these were both part of our product testing). The stretch in this fabric can be pushed pretty far and you'll have to work really hard to wear out any of the seams.  

When Can I Wear the 404 4-Pocket Pants?  

The 4-Pocket Pants are designed to be your showstopper. Pair these with our Nicer Tee and a blazer to demolish your next meeting. Or, go for the layered look with our 502 Quarter-Zip Pullover for a night on the town. In terms of fit, the fabric is very flexible so this is 100% your call. Consider the size chart and go with your normal size for the traditional jean fit and feel or size it down one notch for a more fitted feel. You can even roll the bottom one time for the modern, guy-on-the-go look. The waist has enough give to fit either look and will never pinch.  

The 404 is definitely more engineered towards the afternoon and evening. Throw them on for the office after the gym and keep them on as you roll into a dinner and drinks. We cut these and styled them so they would pass any dress code or club rules while still keeping you comfortable, cool and well supported. Even though you're getting a lot of structure and support from the 404, there is definitely the normal level of comfort that Willy engineers in every piece. The breathable fabric is perfect for the golf course and the structure will help you hold your swing together for the entire round. Some of the guys here even get away with sleeping in them, but we've definitely got way better options in that department. You might also choose the 404 for a long flight but we'd strongly recommend our 401 Sweatpants for your travel suit.
